Somedays you wake up and realize why you live in a certain area, and that you could not imagine living anywhere else. Please don’t get me wrong there are a millions places I would love to visit, and even some I could also see myself living at. But when it comes to Olympia, I just feel at home and that fresh crisp air that greats you all day long, seals the deal for myself.
You probably have heard the saying”theres something in the water”. Here in Olympia they were so confident in our water, the slogan on Olympia Brewery said”Its the Water”. When you come and visit you will be able to see it is just more then the water, but fresh water is always a plus. The trees, and mountains, the sound, and rivers will also let you see why when you wake up, this is going to be a great day.
Right now my daughter is in pre-school and during here classes twice a week, I try to duck out of meetings or showings to walk around Capital Lake, downtown Olympia for a stroll with my wife and little boy. Then we will walk up the streets through down town and grab a coffee/tea for my wife and look at all the boutique shops.
If you are looking for an Amazing place to live, and want a local who grew up in the area. Please give me a call, Ron Rougeaux (360) 338-8355 – to show you around and the great places to live.
It has been an amazing 2015 year at work. I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who has helped me and been a positive influence in my life. Thank you to all my friends and family, my clients and their referrals, and all the agents that have given me advice and knowledge at the office, and of course Jeff and Diane for being the most amazing Bosses I have ever worked for. I look forward to another amazing year at Van Dorm Realty, and look forward to sharing all the fun times ahead.
Last year I really worked hard for my clients, my family, and myself. And sure enough if you work hard and you are honest and always straight forward, I believe it will always pay off. My pops used to always say, “Just Work” and “Be Honest”. My pops was the type of guy who stood by his handshake is his word, which I believe very strongly as well, although I believe it is a dying trait. But with him always hammering in me to be honest and work hard, I just don’t know any other way of working. I have seen people really just not get it or understand. Now you do have to be careful as if you work hard, but you are not doing it in the right way, well that kind of defeats the purpose of working hard. So working hard smart style with the knowledge and technology, and technics you have started, you should be amazing. I also learned a key piece of knowledge from my old roommates when I was a tennis pro in southern California. My roommates were from the Philippines, and they were just down to earth, always happy and a laid back style with great work ethic. They would always say, “That’s your style, bro” which when I would think about was, yes that is who I am. And thats very true, if you know who you are, and what you stand for, no one can change or sway you for the worse. I believe it also truly means know your own style including your strengths and weaknesses. This has always played a big part in my life when I interactive and working with clients. I am very happy for my journeys in life and the experiences and people I have met. I am very thankful for the award I received today and being a Real Estate Broker at Van Dorm Realty in Olympia Washington.
Life as a Real Estate Broker can be an exciting and fast paced business with a lot up strong ups and downs. Let me start by saying exciting and fast paced is what you should be doing as a real estate broker, and you should always be working. Even if you not working with a client, there is all kinds of marketing that needs to be taken care of to make sure you are in front of as many people as possible. The ups and downs for a real estate broker are no with the market but with the clients, somedays you will be packed with clients and home showings, listings, contracts and paperwork. Other days you could have off the entire morning, or even the full day. What do you do, remember you still have marketing, but you can only blog, Facebook, post pictures, and as for recommendations and referrals online for so long. If you have a family, you want to spend as much time with them as possible, but the agents that are dedicated to work it still seems hard, as you get in a habit of always being in a fast paced, need to work constantly, answer ever email, text and phone call right away. If not the potential client or even the client, could just go and move on to the next real estate that will answer their questions right then and there. Now you may say not everyone is so impatient, but I remember when I was looking to buy a home, if you didn’t answer your phone the first time I called, I just moved on down the list until an agent answered and take care of all my questions. Now of course this is not always the case, and most potential clients leave a message and wait for a reply because they are drawn to you somehow and want to work with you. But I always have in the back of my mind, what if I miss a home sale because I didn’t answer the phone. This train of thought is great for business because you are able to hyper focus and make sure your work is done and done right. But for the Real estate brokers with families this can take a huge toll on the families and really hurt your social life. I have found the best way to work is to try to create a balance of life. This is very hard to do but must be done, and when you go home for the evening and have dinner and the kids are in bed. The balance will come when you can put your phone away and talk with you significant other, instead of reaching for the phone when it chimes from calls, emails, or social media.
One of the best reasons to live in the Pacific NorthWest, is you get to enjoy the array of everything the countryside has to offer. In the winter you can head up to the mountains and have amazing snow, Crystal Mountains is one of my favorite. From Olympia, Wa where I sell real estate and the homes are flying off the market. It is only a 2 hour drive too 3 different mountains to go snowboarding or skiing on. Working at Van Dorm Realty provides me the flexibility to take a Thursday or any day for that case any head up to the mountains after a heavy snow storm blows through. And of course well I’m on the mountain, I still found time to reply to real estate emails, and even get a potential listing on the mountain side of Crystal Mountain. The client wanted to list his home at the base of the mountain for $700k. So if your in the market for an amazing home on Crystal Mountain, please contact me and I will help you find the perfect getaway ski home tucked away in the snow. And after a great day of snowboarding in knee high to waist deep powder is a great beer at the Lodge. Of course my favorite beer is a Mannys from Georgetown Brewery out of Seattle. The great thing about being 2 hours away from the mountain and doing real estate in Olympia, WA, is you can go fishing in the bay if skiing is not you’re thing. Or even hiking, mountain biking on Capital forest, or just enjoying one of the great Pubs in downtown Olympia, WA. Please contact me Ron Rougeaux, if you would like help finding the perfect home in the Pacific NorthWest.
